Apprenticed at the age of 14 on February 2, 1806 to Mrs. Potter, the headmistress of Wimbledon School, probably as an apprentice teacher.

From Selby Whittingham “she died in 1859 at Vizeu, leaving a Portuguese will.”
The will is dated April 5, 1859 in the home of Dona Anna Telles da Silva. It gives her name as Dona Maria Luiza Danby, born in London, England, single, Roman Catholic living at “Casa do Arco” in the city of Viseu. Of her family she mentions the 10 masses to be said for the soul of her father. Her mother is her universal heir and if she dies her sisters and nieces. [Her mother and 2 of her sisters Marcella and Teresa were still alive at the time of her death.] She does not mention any family by name. Her executors are Francisca Gomes Pinto and Jose Queiroz. She leaves either money or possessions to Mrs. Anna Telles, four maids from above and each maid from below, Maria do Ceu, her overseer Francisco Gomes Pinto, Jose Queiroz, her uncles (but not by name), Jose Alves, Manuel d’Almeida , Dona Anna Telles’ daughter Mrs. Margarida and her boys, the maid Maria Vaz, Anna de Jesus, Anna’s sister Floriana, the maid Amalia, Maria Rita de Santiago. The probate mentions she died April 7, 1859. [Vizeu is located in central Portugal]
