. . .two generations later the heiress Elizabeth Whalesburgh in 1452 married John Trevelyan. The Trevelyans have owned the estate from then until Sir Willoughby Trevelyan who died unmarried in 1943. On his death the estate went to his sister Joan, married to Garnet Wolseley and today it is owned by their son John Wolseley, although he does not live in the house. The baronetcy passed to a distant cousin.
