DEAKIN, Isabella Vera Late of Berwick House, Victoria, passed away peacefully at the Royal Jubilee Hospital, Victoria on Saturday 3 December 2005 age 92. The daughter of the late Guy and Jane Deakin of Victoria, she was preceded by her brother Flying Officer Arthur Keelinge Deakin RCAF, lost on active duty off Ireland in 1944. She is survived by cousins in Victoria, Vancouver and Edmonton. Although born in Strathmore, Alberta on 26 October 1913, she spent her childhood and youth on a farm at Franklin near Neepawa, Manitoba before moving to Victoria in 1933 where she worked until her retirement in 1978 as the secretary to the CNIB. She was member of the WA/ACW and other organizations at St Mary's Church, Oak Bay for over 70 years, and following her retirement a volunteer for the CNIB, Gorge Hospital as well as other charitable organizations. Her family and all those who knew her will remember Vera for her sincerity, sharp mind and continued interest in all things but especially for the care and well being of others. A funeral service of remembrance will be held at 2pm Tuesday 13 December 2005 at St Mary's Church, Oak Bay, 1701 Elgin Street, Victoria, followed by a reception in the parish hall. Her ashes will be interred immediately following the service in the church Garden of Remembrance. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, 2340 Richmond Road, Victoria, BC V8R 4R9. 184948
