Miss Kathleen Nicholson, of Sunderland, England, was married to Lieutenant J. F. A. Homer Lindsay, D.C.M., M.M., Wednesday afternoon, in St. John’s pro-cathedral. Archbishop S. P. Matheson, assisted by Dean Coombes officiated. The bride, who was given in marriage by A. C. Swindell [Arthur Camden Swindell], wore . . . She was attended by by Miss Constance Pringle and Master Benjamin Homer Swindell. S. Lee Price, of Regina, was groomsman. The ceremony received somewhat of a military aspect from the fact that both were in uniform.
After the ceremony an informal reception was held to 40 guests at the home of the bridegroom’s aunt, Mrs. A. C. Homer Swindell who wore . . . Mrs. G. F. Coombes and Mrs. E. Struthers presided over the tea table . . .
Mr. and Mrs. Lindsay left on the evening train for Winnipegosis.
Out-of-town guests included: Mrs. R. B. Keeling and Miss Deakin, Neepawaw; Mrs. Benjamin Homer, Victoria, B.C.; F.Nicholson, Franklin and Norman Meaden, Toronto.

Went to Canada when he left school at 15 to work on his uncles farm, either Ben or Paul Homer. When 18 joined the Canadian Army to get back to England, winning the M.M. and the D.C.M.before being commissioned on the field, then joined the Air Force and flew D.H.9s. Also served in the 2nd World War, Acting squadron leader in the RAF Regiment. He then went back to Canada, and was given a grant of land by the Canadian Government to farm. He built a homestead, and his wife came to Canada, where they were married in Winnipeg at St.Johns 1st June 1921.

For conspicuous gallantry and good work between 12th and 14th December 1915, in scouting and reconnoitring previous to the attack on the German advanced barricade at Messines road. He was often under heavy fire at close range. Finally he did excellent work in the capture of the barricade. 22.1.16
Military Medal
For splendid courage & devotion to duty during operations on the 26th & 27th September 1916 in carying messages between Headquarters and the advanced positions under continuous shell M.G. and rifle fire. He also assisted in carying water forward and casulaties back and also acted as a guide for Artillery Officers and reliefs. He was always ready to volunteer for any dangerous work. This N.C.O. has been awarded the D.C.M.
