Obituary
SIMPSON, George
May 5, 1922 - October 25, 2014
We sadly announce with great sorrow the passing of our loving father George Simpson at the age of 92 years. George will be missed and fondly remembered by his children: Brenda, Barbara (Ron), Bob, Bruce, and Brian. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Chrystal, Heather, Corey, Darren, Leah, Amber, Jagger and great- grandson Colton. He is survived by his sister, Jean (Bizz) Gilbert, sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie and Oskar Arnason, and sister-in- law, Julie Mearns. He was predeceased by his wife Lillian May; mother and father; his brothers Jack and Dick and sisters Muriel and Grace. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends. His life started with joining the Air Force at age 18 obtaining the rank of LAC. Following the war, he started a water well drilling business with his brothers and dad in Netherhill, SK. George, his brothers, and father owned and operated Tri–City Drilling and Hub City Drilling. They have a street in Fort McMurray named in their honour called Simpson Way. He worked very hard all his life until his retirement in 1969. After retirement, his life was full of travelling the world with Lil and many close friends. He was an avid golfer and a member of Earl Grey Golf Course and the Glencoe Club where he loved curling and bowling. We will all miss his sense of humour and what a kind generous man he was to all that knew him. There will be a small get together at a later date. We would like to thank all the staff at Foothills Hospital for their kindness and compassion during Dad's final days.
