Elizabeth and Barbara are born in Middlesex, the others are not.

The following confirm Emily married Samuel Legg and immigrated to the united States.
1. Emily’s parents were married in Henley on Thames Parish
2. The 1841 census says Emily was not born in Middlesex where most of her younger siblings were born.
3. The Parish records for the marriage in 1846 gives her fathers name as John Mills and his profession as publican. This is a match for her fathers name and his occupation in the 1851 census.
4. The 1851 census entry below gives Emily Legg’s age as 24, a match to the 1841 census. It gives her birth location as Henley on Thames which matches her parents marriage parish about a year before she was born.
5. The deciding factor is Samuel Legg’s Probate has a signature of Gertrude Emily Tonks (nee Symondson) who was a grandneice of Emily.

Enlisted and was mustered into service as a Private in Company D of the 1st Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment on October 22nd, 1861, at Milwaukee ,Wisconsin, for three year’s service; discharged due to a disability on January 4th, 1863. Born August 5th, 1822; applied for, and received, a veteran’s pension on August 18th, 1890, and reapplied on February 18th, 1907; died on September 16th, 1910; buried at the Forest Home Cemetery in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin; his widow applied for, and received, a widow’s pension from September 24th, 1910
