a notebook entitled “Memoranda of various events, commencing with gleanings of my dear father and mother's ancestors and relatives etc”.
1844 Decr 3rd Aged 52 years Mr John Scatcherd Surgeon of East Keswick died, he was much respected as a Dr but intemperance shortened his days.
[This last bit might be taken with a grain of salt, as the notebook seems to indicate there was some “history” between the Hodgsons and the Scatchards.]
