In memory of James Bradley of East Keswick who departed this life Jan. 9th 1766. In the 42nd year of his age, in Genius and in worth he was esscalled by fever in the ----------the attended in asthmatically and other -----------In the Interest in science wince the call one the regard so general for his Loves --will ever record the other Elizabeth the wife of the above James Bradley departed this life Nov.24th 1801 or 1821 [must be 1801], aged 72 yrs also Thomas their son who died May 24th [since burial seems to be May 19, perhaps he died May 14] 1776, aged 13yrs.
Near this place the remains of John Sharper of East Keswick who departed his life April? 1703 [probably should be 1793] aged 46yrs engraved Bradley vault the Latin is let into the said tombstone with a brass plate this is underneath the brass plate, also of William Bradley of East Keswick who departed his life April 1st 1826 aged 65yrs. The brass plate and William Bradley name are let in the South side of the raised family ---------of the Bradley’s. The words and names of the above John Sharper (1703) are written on the North side of the same Vault -the Scatchard [Could these Sharpers and Bradleys be ancestors of John or Elizabeth?]
Sharper’s and Bradley were related to each other. These Vaults (of the Scatchard, Bradley & Sharper’s) are situated at the south east corner of the church close together and near the path -under the shadow of the East Window which is dedicated “The Church of The Holy Cross T.T.” The scene on the East Window is “ The Crucifixion ” the path leading from the entrance Gates (which are situated at the North East corner of the Church door least leads passed the East Window to the South Porch . In memory of John Sharper of East Keswick who departed his life March 15th 1824. Aged 53yrs. also Elizabeth daughter of John and Mary Sharper who departed this life APRIL 22nd 1813 aged 10 yrs, upright stone.
