A Danish noblewoman maried to one of the most powerfull men in England. One daughter was married to Edward the Confessor and one son became King of England. Her brother was married to the daughter of King Cnut.
Three of her sons, Harold Godwinson King of England, Gyrth Godwinson Earl of East Anglia and Leofwine Godwinson Earl of Kent died at the Battle of Hastings on October 14 1066. A fourth son, Tostig Godwinson died September 25 1066 at the Battle of Stamford Bridge fighting against his brother King Harold.
