In the January to March 1877 birth index there is a Beatrice Maud D. Garmeson, born Pancras, London, Middlesex, volume 1b, page 129. [The name and location match but not the year. This could be an older sister who died young and the parents named the second child after the first. However there is no Beatrice Maud Garmeson listed in the 1880 index and there is no Beatrice Maude Garmeson listed in the death indexes in the 1870s. Since there are numerous other errors in her brothers and sisters birth dates, I suggest, Beatrice was actually born in 1877 and the parents for some reason used a different date.]

Beatrice Maude Deakin Garmeson was born on 06 Jan 1877. She was the oldest child of John Deakin Garmeson and Emily Maude (Hedges) Garmeson. Her birth certificate shows she was born in Camden Town, Middlesex, England. She was baptized at St Mary and St John Chapel in Oxfordshire, England on 11 May 1877 according to the Bishop’s transcripts. At the age of 5, Beatrice immigrated to the United States with her parents and infant brother, Reginald. They arrived in New York 30 Nov 1882 on the ship SS Britanic. In 1883 they moved to Chicago, Illinois. By 1888, the Garmeson family had relocated to California. An article appeared in the Oakland Tribune (Oakland, California) dated 22 Dec 1888 which listed Beatrice as being promoted to the 6th grade in the Durant Public School. The article was entitled “ Public School Pupils go one step higher- Names of scholars whose exemplary record for the term is properly rewarded”. Around 1889, the family had made their home in San Francisco.
The 1900 Federal Census Record listed Beatrice as being 23, single, unemployed, and living at 3526 E. 21st Street, San Francisco. In the 1910 Federal Census Record, Beatrice was living at 55 Alpine Street, and working as a Bookkeeper for a Wholesale Warehouse. Beatrice was 34 years old when her father John Deakin Garmeson passed away on 31 Jul 1911. Then in June of 1917, she lost her mother, Emily Maud. The 1920 Federal Census Record now shows Beatrice as being single, but Head-of-Household. She lived at 838 Broderick Street, San Francisco, and was working as a Bookkeeper for a shoe company. Her siblings, Bertram, Violet and Russell were living with her. By the time the 1930 Federal Census was recorded, Beatrice was living with her sister Violet, and Violet’s husband, Bertell Christensen, at 125 Page Mill Road, Fremont, Santa Clara, California. She was 53 years old, single, and unemployed. The US Naturalization Record Index recorded that Beatrice had been granted citizenship of the United States on 13 Jun 1934.
According to the 1940 Federal Census Record, Beatrice had moved in with her nephew Roy Fredrick Garmeson, his wife Treva, and their two children, Elizabeth and Charles. Beatrice was not employed, according to this census reading. On 09 Jun 1941, Beatrice Maud died in San Francisco, California at the age of 61. Her residence was 480 30th Street, San Francisco at the time of her death. She died from multiple issues including acute appendicitis, gangrene of the gallbladder, hypertensive cardiovascular disease and cardio-occlusion. She never married. She was described as being of medium height, with blue eyes and brown hair. She was cremated and buried in the Cypress Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Colma, CA.
