Notes for Elizabeth CURTIS
Name and birth year from Susan Smith.

In the July to September 1859 birth index Elizabeth Curtis born Chorlton, Lancashire, volume 8c, page 597

Parish records Manchester Cathedral
Born May 22, 1859 baptized April 8, 1860 Elizabeth Curtis daughter of Benjamin and Jane Curtis of Manchester, father is a coal merchant.
[I would suggest the birth date on her headstone (August 13 1859) is the correct one. For the following reasons.
1) She is registered in the July to September birth index and it is unlikely her parents waited 6 or more weeks to register her birth.
2) Her older sister’s birthday is May 22 and it is unlikely they were born on the same day exactly 1 year apart.
3) The headstone date seems to agree with the birth index. Possibly the sisters were baptized at the same time, as I can’t find Emily’s baptismal record, and the parish clerk accidently combined the baptisms’ when recording them.]
