SWINDELL-PHILLIPS At the Church of Our Lord yesterday afternoon at 2, the marriage was quietly solemnized of Dorothy youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Phillips, Princess Avenue, and Mr. BenJamin H. Swindell, only son of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Swindell, Victoria, Rev. G. H. Scarrett officiating in a setting of chrysanthemums and greenery. The bride was given away by her father, and wore a light grey suit with a corsage bouquet of roses and gardenias, and wine accessories. Mrs. G. E. Hardy attended her sister in a frock of dark green flat crepe trimmed with gold, worn with rust accessories and a corsage bouquet of roses and violets, and Mr. Karl Brown was best man. Relatives and a few intimate friends were entertained later by Mr. and Mrs. Phillips at their home.
Mrs. Phillips received the guests in a vintage red dress with black accessories, and was assisted by Mrs. Swindell in blue velvet and accessories en suite. The rooms were arranged with chrysanthemums and the tea table was spread with a lace cloth and centred with the wedding cake standing beneath yellow and white streamers and a white bell between vases of chrysanthemums. After a honeymoon trip to Portland, for which the bride left in a black seal coat over her wedding costume, Mr. and Mrs. Swindell will return to Victoria to live. Mr. and Mrs. David John, Vancouver, were guests at the wedding.
[Presumably the middle initial H refers to his mother’s maiden name of Homer.]
