It would seem Nellie is not the daughter of Thomas and Julie Lowes but a grand daughter. Since I don’t know how she fits in she is entered in the data base as their daughter. The question then is who is her Lowes parent. The possibilities seem to be John Lowes, Stephen Lowes, Jennie Lowes or possibly Ethel. Her mother is not likely to be Ellen (Nellie) who died likely a year or 2 before Nellie was born.

I think I have the answer to the above question.
It appears Ellen Irene Lowes’ (known as Nellie) plaque in front of the Lowes headstone in the Tugaske Cemetery has incorrect information. She was born in 1901 not 1900. There is no Ellen Irene Lowes nor Nellie Lowes recorded in the eHealth Saskatchewan death index for any year close to 1917. Ellen Irene’a sister Hilda Belle’s death is recorded in 1917, as matched by the information of the headstone. Shown below there is a birth record for a Nellie Foreacres whose mother’s maiden name is Nellie Irene Lowes. Also there is an entry in the death index for a Nellie Irene Toreacre on June 27 1919 at the Providence Hospital in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. In an article by a family member Nellie (the mother) is referred as Mrs. Fouracres. So it seems very likely this Nellie was raised by her grandparents as if she was their daughter. They gave her last names as Lowes in every census.
There are still some questions which are unanswered.
1. Which of the 3 spellings for her last name is correct? Foreacres, Foreacres or Toreacres.
2. Did Nellie’s parents marry?
