Notes for Isabella Of Hainault
First wife of Philip II
Since she was a descendant of Charlemagne, chroniclers at the time saw her marriage as a union of the Carolingian and Capetian dynasties. Died the day after giving birth to twin boys. The boys died 4 days later. When her body was exhumed and measured in 1858 it was determined she would have stood at 5’8” or 5’9”.
Notes for Philip II (Spouse 1)
