First marriage was in 1123 to William Clito, son of Robert Curthose. The marriage was annulled in 1124 on grounds of consanguinity.
She accompanied he widowed father to the crusader Kingdom of Jerusalem where he became King. She married Thierry who had arrived on his first pilgrimage to the Holy Land. When Thierry returned to Flanders after his third pilgrimage she remained behind to become a nun at St. Lazarus in Bethany.

With a record of four campaigns in the Levant and Africa (including participation in the Second Crusade the failed 1157–1158 siege of the Syrian city Shaiza, and the 1164 invasion of Egypt, he had a rare and distinguished record of commitment to crusading.
