Notes for Saint Matilda Of Ringelheim
As a young girl she was sent to Herford Abbey (in the Duchy of Saxony) where grandmother was Matilda was abbess. There her reputation for for beauty and virtue (and possibly her dowry) caught the attention of Duke Otto I of Saxony who married her to his son Henry.
Founded many religious institutions.
Her feast day is March 14.

Generally considered to be the founder and first king of the medieval German state, known then as East Francia.
An avid hunter hence the epithet the Fowler.
Defeated by the Magyars in 919 at the Battle of Puchen.
Crushed the Magyars at the Battle of Riade in 933.
