Fought on the side of Wessex and Kent against Viking Northumbria (Danelaw) and East Anglia. The result was a pyrrhic victory for the Danelaw as all the leaders on both sides were killed in battle. It ended Aethelwold’s attempt to seize the Anglo Saxon throne.
