Death year and location from John Patchett
Also from John Patchett Marriage between John Coupe and Mary Stoakes May 21, 1835 at Our lady of Egmanton Anglican Church. (Philmore's registery, Nottingham Family history Society.)

A working theory is Mary is the daughter of John and Susanah Stoakes
Facts:
1. In the 1841 census the only Stoakes in Egmanton were John Stoakes, age 50, farmer, born in Nottinghamshire and Susanah, age 50, farmer, born Nottinghamshire. Also at this house WIlliam Bills, age 35, agricultural servant and WIliam Coupe, age 5, born Nottinghamshire.
2. In the 1851 census the only Stoakes in Egmanton are John Stoakes, age 60, farmer of 110 acres employing 1 labourer, born Ordsall, Nottinghamshire, his wife Susannah Stoakes, age 66 (or possibly 60), born Egmanton and their servant Hannah Stoakes, unmarried, age 25, house servant, born Grafthorpe, Nottinghamshire. [They are listed just before the Coupe family]
3. In the 1861 census the only Stoakes in Egmanton were John Stoakes, age 70, schoolmaster, born Ordsall, Nottinghamshire and his wife Susanah Stoakes, age 71, born Egmanton
4. Pallot’s Marriage index has the marriage of John Stoakes and Susanna Johnson in Egmanton in 1816. [Thus John and Susannah would be about 25 years of age]
5. Mary Stoakes was born in 1816 or 1817.
6. John Stoakes was baptised August 28 1790 in Ordsall, Nottinghamshire, father Samuel Stoakes, mother Hannah
7. In the 1834 and 1836 Poll books for Egmanton John Stoakes is listed as an occupier of house and land. [No other Stoakes listed] George Johnson, Freehold land
8. John Stoakes is listed in the April to June 1868 death index, age 77, Southwell district [which includes Egmanton], volume 7b, page 183
This suggests John and Susannah are Mary’s parents since
1. Mary Stoakes was born in Egmanton and they are the only Stoakes I can find.
2. Mary was born shortly after their marriage and thus could be their eldest child.
3. John and Mary’s child William seems to be listed twice in the 1841 census, once with his parents and once with his presumed grandparents.
4.. Mary and John’s children’s names
a) The first son was named after John’s father William
b) The second son was named after John and also Mary’s presumed father John.
c) The first daughter would presumably be named after Mary’s mother Susannah
d) The second daughter Mary Jane was named after Mary and also presumably after John’s mother Mary.
