Death of J. W. Coupe
We regret to record the death of John William Coupe, of 63, Bulkeley Road, Cheadle, which took place on January 24th at his residence. Deceased was a greatly respected servant of Messrs J. And N. Phillips, of Manchester, being also well-known in the musical world of the district. The funeral took place at Cheadle Cemetery, January 28th, and the large number of people who were present at the service and graveside to witness the last rites, went to show the high regard and esteem in which he was held. The Rev. J. G. Hornsby officiated at the Cemetery. Inscribed on the coffin plate was: -

The cortege consisted of motor hearse and three private motors, occupied by the following:-
First: Master William Coupe (son), Mr. Arthur Coupe and Mr Ernest Coupe (brothers), Mr Tom Davison (brother-in-law), Mr Clarence Coupe (nephew), Mr William Brooke (cousin)
Second: Mr. Fred Davison, Mr and Mrs Tom Lee, Mr Golland, Mr Parker, Mr Griffith, Mr Browns.
Third: Mr T. Hewitt, Mr Tabron, Mr Picanee, Mr Grey, Mr Baker, Mr A. Tabron (deputation from J. And N. Phillips), who acted as pallbearers.
Wreaths were sent by the following: - Loving wife and son Willie; Arthur and Family (Longsight); Tom and Lizzie and Family (Withington); Mrs Fredk. Coupe and Family (Whalley Range), Aunt Pollie and Betsy; Mr and Mrs W. Brooke; Mr and Mrs F. Davison and little Joan (Cheadle); The Cheadle Bulkeley Dance Orchestra; Mr and Mrs Waine and Dorothy (Gatley); etc.
