Notes for Lady Godiva
Anglo-Saxon noblewoman
Godiva is the latinized version of her name Godgifu or Godgyfu

Was a widow when she married Leofric.
Died sometime between 1066 and 1086.
Was one of the few Anglo-Saxons and the only woman to remain a landowner shortly after the conquest.
Both she and her husband Leofric are known as generous benefactors to religious houses.
Notes for Leofric (Spouse 1)
As Earl of Mercia he was one of the most powerful earls in the land, second only to Earl Godwin of Wessex.
