He escaped factions intending to take his throne due to a devoted squire who on the pommel of his saddle took him to a safe stronghold. At age 15 by surprise he was able to recover his captial Toledo from the Laras. Later he allied the Christian Kingdoms against the Almohads. Later they were able to route the caliph and break the Almohad power.
