Count of Hainaut from 1071.
Joined the First Crusade in the company of Godfrey of Bouillon. After the seige of Antioch, he was sent to Contantinople to seek assistance from the Byzantine emperor. He disappeared during a raid by the Seljuk Turks and was presumably killed.
