The first recorded female prisoner in the Tower of London. She was jailed for ordering an armed assault on Isabella of France wife of King Edward II. Upon release she entered religious life at a convent house outside Aldgate.

Originally supported King Edward II but changed sides to support Thomas, Earl of Lancaster. They were defeated at the battle of Boroughbride on March 16, 1322. Bartholomew was tried and executed.
