Possibly a daughter of Waldalenus, a Frankish magnate who served as mayor of the Austrasian palace at Mtez from 581, during the minority of Childebert II. His mother would then be Flavia of noble birth.

Originated around Dijon in northern Burgundy.
He and his wife founded a convent at Bregille and an abbey at Beze.
