There was an Alexander Duncan Burgess who served in the 8th Tank Corps (Royal Tank Corps) in WWI. His service number was 202111, he was a Warrant Officer 1, and received the British War Medal and Victory Medal. It seems he did not serve in a Theatre of War ie. he stayed in England. Since he was a mechanical engineer this is quite possibly him. However at this point I can’t confirm this is indeed him.
