Elsie Elizabeth Brown Elsie Elizabeth Brown, now in residence at the IOOF Home of Roblin Boulevard, will mark her 100th birthday Thursday, April 18, 1985. Her daughter and son-in-law, six sons, and their spouses from various parts of Canada, several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, along with a nephew and niece and family from England, will attend a birthday dinner at Matheos Restaurant. Mrs. Brown was born April 18, 1885 in Birmingham, England, marrying the late
Francis W. P. Brown in 1911. They emigrated to Canada in 1922 making their home in St. James and Charleswood. In addition to her seven children, Mrs. Brown has 25 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Remaining an active member of St. Mary's Age in Action Group and the Gloria Dei Senior Adults Club, Mrs. Brown carpet bowls and participates in the various activities held at the IOOF Residence. In addition to the family dinner, special events planned for the celebration include the serving of cake to fellow residents at the Home, a second generation party to be held at the Sandy Hook home of Mr. and Mrs. Philip H. Brown and a third generation party to be held at the St. James home of Charlotte and Sid Laviolette, a barbeque at the East Kildonan home of the Rev. and Mrs. Kenneth D. Brown, and the serving of a 100th birthday cake at the parish social hour following the 11:00 a.m. service, Sunday, April 21 in St. Mary's Anglican Church, Roblin Boulevard and Haney Street.
