MORROW Mona passed away peacefully on Wednesday. December 30. 2015 at the age of 85 years She will be missed by her husband Ken, daughter Sharon, son David (Lynn), grandchildren Erika (Paul) Chris (Natasha), Katie (Darcy), Paula (Chris) and Don, six great grandchildren sister Dora (Jack) Whiting and many nieces, nephews, cousins and sisters and brothers-in law. Mona was born on July 15 1930 in Broadview Saskatchewan to Mabel and Robert Corteen. Mona and her sister Dora grew up in Kennedy, SK She attended nursing school in Regina, graduating in 1952 Mona had a 40-year long career as a registered nurse and spent those years between the Regina General Hospital and the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre In 1953 Mona married Ken Morrow and they made their home in Regina where they raised their family together. Mona enjoyed family gatherings travelling especially the travel that she and Ken did in their trailer to various locations in Canada and the USA, as well as to many collector and antique shows. She was highly interested in genealogy and travelled to many locations to research and visit the homes of her relatives This research took her to England ,Ireland, Isle of Man and Quebec City. She continued that interest as a volunteer for the genealogy centre for many years in her retirement. As an active member of Lakeview United Church Mona donated her time as a nurse at church camp acting as church librarian and as a member of the UCW and visiting committee. She also had a passion for gardening painting and baking The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of the Transition and Main Wing at Parkside Extendicare where Mom spent the last 20 months A Memorial Service will take place on Friday, January 8, 2016 at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at a later date at Regina Memorial Gardens.
