Simmonds John crest
John Simmonds is holding the white plaque in the centre group of 3.
In the group, to the left is Wing Commander A. R. Holmes, commander of 437 Squadron.
In the group, to the right is Sir Patrick Ashley Cooper, Governor of the Hudson’s Bay Company.
The occasion is the presentation of the Squadron’s crest to the sponsor of the Squadron, the Hudson Bay Company.
The location was at Croyden, South London, England.
The time was before the Squadron flew back to Canada in June 1946.
Note the plane is called the Fort Ross. All 437 Squadron planes were named after Hudson Bay forts.
Fort Ross was in Canada’s far north and the last fort built.
