Theophilus Robert Howkins received the Crimean Medal with the Sebastopol clasp. Since he did not receive the Alma and Balaklava claps as did several other officers in his regiment, he must have either been ill or joined his regiment later. He also earned the Turkish medal similar to the medal shown on the right.
