Actively pursued family genealogy. Her efforts in making a family tree for the Deakin and Homer Families sparked an interest in some of her younger relatives, including myself. The November 14, 1946 edition of the Times states the following
DEAKIN - On Nov. 12, 1946 at Sion House, Wolverley, Kidderminster Alice Gertrude Deakin youngest daughter of the late John Bickerton Deakin, late of Tettenhall Wood, Wolverhampton in her 86th year. Funeral Tettenhall, 3:30 p.m., today (Thursday).
Lived at “the Orchard” at Tettenhall [It would appear this should be Northam, Devon not Tetenhall]. A beautiful house which used to be the hunting lodge of Kings. Sold. A letter lists her writing from Orchard Hill, Bideford, (North) Devon on July 13, 1938. (It is now a hotel of that name) This could simply be a coincidence or there could be an error in location of the house.
To sort things out “The Orchard” seems to be on Orchard Hill in Bideford Devon.
