Funeral service for
Thomas Simpson, 64 was held in St. Matthews Anglican Church Tisdale recently. Mr. Simpson died in a Saskatoon hospital following a lengthy illness. The service was conducted by the Rev. D.A. Gregory. Mr Simpson was born at Swan Lake, Manitoba, where he spent his early life. During the First World War he served with the Canadian Army overseas and was discharged with the rank of sergeant. He went to Tisdale in 1919 settling on a farm in the Hanover district. In October 1923, he married Miss Daisy V. Collison at Star City. In 1928 Mr. Simpson homesteaded in the Arborfield district returning near his farm near Tisdale in 1931. He reside there until moving into Tisdale in 1947. While in Tisdale he was employed for several years as caretaker of the Tisdale curling rink and Tisdale golf course. During the Second World War he was an active member of the Tisdale platoon of the Prince Albert Volunteers in the Reserve Army. He was a member of the IOOF., the Canadian Legion and St. Matthew’s Church Choir. He is survived by his widow, his mother, Mrs. Thomas W. Simpson of Swan Lake, three sons, Bill, Saskatoon; Jin, Humboldt; and Barry, at home; and five daughters, Mrs. G. Fish of Kenora, Mrs William Hamilton, of Saskatoon, Mrs. M. Craig of Flin Flon, Mrs. W. Brigham of Saskatoon and Gail at home; and three sisters
