Notes for Clovis I King Of The Franks
[One of the few known ancestors born in the 5th century.]
His parents named him Chlodovech, but he is better known by his Latinized name Clovis
King of the Salian Franks 481 to 509
King of the Franks from 509.
The first king to unite all of the Frankish tribes under one ruler.
In 486 won the Battle of Soissons which is considered the end of Western Roman Rule outside of Italy.
At the urging of his wife he converted from Frankish paganism to Catholicism and was baptized on Christmas Day in 508.

Originally buried at Abbey of St. Genevieve, Paris, later moved to Basilica of St. Denis.

Venerated as a Saint in France in France, but not formally approved by the Pope.
