His father is reputed to be Merovech, hence the name Merovingian dynasty. However Merovech is considered semi-legendary.

Childeric’s tomb was found in 1653 in Tornai, Belgium. It included many precious items. These ended up being stored in the royal library in Belgium. Unfortunately in 1831 these and other gold object were stolen and melted down.

Thought to be a daughter of the Thuringian King Basin and his wife Basine. She left her first husband King Bisinus King of the Thuringii to marry Childeric.
