The Phillipps Connection
Mary Cotterell is the Great Great Great Aunt of the (David’s) present generation. She married William Phillipps of Laverton and their son, Thomas Phillipps became a successful manufacturer of printed calico in Ashton under Lime Manchester. He had and illegitimate son Thomas Phillipps by Hannah Walton but never married. He retired to Middle Hill with his son who became the world renowned "bibliophile" Sir Thomas Phillipps.
