SALT LAKE CITY - Fern Elizabeth Schofield Paxman, 92, of Salt Lake City, died Sunday, August 8, 1982 in Salt Lake City.
She was born June 7, 1890 in Nephi to John William and Mary Ellen Pace Schofield. She married J. Walter Paxman on June 17, 1914 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.
She was an active member of the LDS church and worked in all the organizations in the ward. She served on the stake level in Sunday School, YWMIA and Primary organizations. She had been a vice president in the PTA and had served as president of the 20th Century Club. She graduated from Brigham Young University in elementary education and taught in both Vineyard and Nephi schools.
Survivors include her husband, Salt Lake City; two daughters, Mrs. Thomas W. (Elaine) Felt, Las Vegas, Nevada; Mrs. Duane C. (Carrine) Hill, Salt Lake City; six grandchildren.
Funeral will be Wednesday, 1 p.m. in the Nephi Second LDS Ward Chapel, Nephi. Burial will be at the Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi.

SALT LAKE CITY - James Walter Paxman, 100, of Salt Lake City, died Monday, April 10, 1989, in Salt Lake City, of causes incident to age.
He was born February 12, 1889 in Nephi, to James W. and Julia Sudbury Paxman. He married Fern Schofield June 7, 1914 in Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died in 1982.
He was educated in Nephi schools and Brigham Young University. He retired, having spent most of his life as a wheat farmer on Nephi-Levan Ridge.
He was active in church and civic organizations, having served as a counselor in the South Ward bishopric and as a Nephi City councilman. He was active in Boy Scouts and served on the executive boards for Juab County. He was past president of Associated Civic Clubs of Southeastern Utah and the Nephi Kiwanis Club.
He was chairman of the Agricultural Stabilization Board for Juab county and worked for many years on the Ute Stampede executive committee. He lived in Salt Lake City for the past 20 years.
He is survived by daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Elayne) Felt, Las Vegas, Nevada; Mrs. Duane C. (Corrine) Hill, Salt Lake City; 6 grandchildren.
Funeral will be Thursday, noon, at the Monument Park 16th Ward, Salt Lake City. Graveside services and burial at 3 p.m. Thursday at Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi.
