Presumably, the child is one of Evelina’s younger children with Joseph Dupuis, most likely Joseph Hutton Dupuis (born 1827) or Hanmer Lewis Dupuis (born 1829), since William Turner died in 1829.
The scene seems to be Turner’s Studio on Harley Street in London.
One wonders what the painting is they are viewing. By their looks, William Turner is grinning, Hannah Danby seems to be focused on Sarah Danby’s reaction, Georgiana is averting her eyes while Evelina looks shocked or displeased. Possibly, it is one of the erotic nudes JMW Turner painted of Sarah when she was younger, and kept private.
