Warren John Garmeson
A life that touches the hearts of others goes on forever……Warren John Garmeson, a man who loved the Lord, passed away at Richard Murphy Hospice House, Hammond, LA on March 11, 2013 at the age of 88. He was born in San Francisco, CA, March 21, 1924 and had lived the last three years at Live Oak Village in Hammond, LA. After completing high school he served during WWII and the Korean War as a member of the United States Navy. He was a Chief Medical Technologist at D.W. McMillan Hospital in Brewton, AL for 25 years. During this time he received an award for Support and Contributions to the Department of Medical Technology from the University of South Alabama. He was a Lifetime Member of T. R. Miller High School Band Boosters. One of his favorite pastimes was acting in community plays at Jefferson Davis Junior College in Brewton. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Brewton for 30 years. A member of First Baptist Church in Pontchatoula, LA, he participated in many activities as a member of the senior choir. He was an avid runner until the age of 85.
Preceded in death by his parents Reginald and Hazel Garmeson, Louise Garmeson, devoted wife and mother for 47 years, wife Sarah Garmeson, brothers Roy and Charles Garmeson and son Rick Garmeson.
Survived by son Reginald Garmeson and wife Joyce of Alcoa, TN, daughter Louann Crumpton and husband Ronnie of Nashville, GA, daughter Warene Sheridan of Pontchatoula, LA, son Martin Garmeson and wife Patricia of Mobile, AL, sister Verna Alcantara of Coeur d'Alene, ID, 11 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 1:00 at First Baptist Church in Brewton, AL with visitation beginning at 11:00. Mr. Garmeson's body was donated to LSU Medical School. Memorial donations may be made to Richard Murphy Hospice Foundation 16013 Halbert Lane, Hammond, LA 70403 or North Oaks Hospice P.O. Box 2668 Hammond, LA 70404 in his name. Craver's Funeral Home Inc,. of Brewton in charge of arrangements.
