November 7, 1870 Letters of Administration of the Personal estate and effects of Sarah Ann Gibson Eliza Dixie late of Calcutta in India Widow deceased who died 16 November 1847 at Calcutta aforesaid were granted at the Principal Registry under the usual Limitations to George Cox Bompas of 4 Great-Winchester-street-buildings in the City of London Solicitor the lawful Attorney of Robert George Fountain the Son and one of the Next of Kin of the said Deceased now residing at Wellington in New Zealand he the said George Cox Bompas having first been sworn. Effects under 1500 pounds. Resworn November 1875 under 100 pounds.

Will of Beaumont Joseph Dixie
On the ninth day of July 1875 letters of administration with the will annexed of all and singular personal Estate and Effects of Beaumont Joseph Dixie late of Merediths Lane in the Town of Calcutta in the East Indies Esquire deceased, who died on or about the 24th day of May 1846 at Calcutta aforesaid were granted at the Principal Registry of Her Majesty’s Court of Probate to Robert Thomas Lattey of Gresham House, Old Broad Street in the city of London gentleman, the lawful attorney of Mary Ann Rosamond Hainworth (wife of Franke Parker Hainworth) formerly Dixie, spinster the daughter and Charlotte Ann Kiernander (wife of Charles Robert Campbell Kiernander) formerly Kiernan, spinster the Residuary Legatees named in the will now respectively residing at Debrooghan in Assam and Allahabad in the East Indies for their use and benefit and until they shall duly apply for and obtain letters of administration with the said will annexed of the said Estate and Effects to be granted to them he having been first sworn duly to administer. Sarah Ann Gibson Eliza Dixie widow the Relict and sole executrix having survived the said deceased and died without having taken upon herself Probate and Execution of the said will. The Right Honorable Sir James Hannen Knight the Judge of Her Majesty’s Court of Probate having on 12th June 1875 by his final decree in a certain cause or suit entitled “Hainworth and others against Dixie and Bompas (cited) lately depending in the said court pronounced for the force and validity of the said will and revoked the letters of Administration of the Personal Estate and Effects of the said Deceased granted at the said Principal Registry in the month of July 1861 on the suggestion that he had died intestate to (line ruled through the words: Sir Alexander Dixie Baronet the natural and lawful father and next of the Kin of the said Deceased) Dame Rebecca Dixie Widow the administratrix of the Personal Estate and Effects of Sir Alexander Dixie Baronet deceased whilst living the natural and lawful father and next of Kin of the said Deceased.
This is the last will and testament of me Beaumont Joseph Dixie of Merediths Lane in the Town of Calcutta, gentleman firstly I direct that all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses be paid and satisfied by my Executrix hereinafter named as soon as conveniently may be after my decease And secondly I give devise and bequeath unto my dear wife Sarah Ann Gibson Eliza all and every my household furniture linen and wearing apparel books plate pictures china and also all and every sum and sums of money which may be in my house or be about my premises or person or due to me at the time of my decease And as to all the rest Residue and remainder of my estate and effects whatsoever both real and personal whether in possession remainder or expectancy I give devise and bequeath the same unto William Greenaway of the town of Calcutta aforesaid a Member of the Firm of Messieurs Gunter Greenaway and Company and to James Morris of the same place Gentleman Upon trust to permit and suffer my dear wife to have the use and enjoyment of all such parts thereof as shall not yield income And to invest the residue of such of my estate as shall not have been applied in payment of my debts and funeral and testamentary expenses in some one or other of the Government stocks or funds of Great Britain or in Government Securities of the East India Company commonly called in India Companys Paper not being terminable annuities and to pay the dividends and produce thereof and also the dividends interest or annual produce of all such other parts of my said estate as shall yield income unto my said dear wife during the term of her natural life And from and after her decease I give devise and bequeath the same and every part thereof unto my daughter Mary Ann Rosamond and my step daughter Charlotte Ann Kiernan to be equally divided between them in equal shares and proportions and the issue of such of them as shall be dead (such issue nevertheless taking only the share which their deceased parent would have been entitled to in the event of such parent surviving my said wife) to and for their own use and benefit absolutely And I nominate constitute and appoint my said dear wife Sarah Ann Gibson Eliza to be Executrix of this my Will and hereby revoking all former or other Wills and Testaments by me at any time heretofore made I declare this to be my last will and testament In witness whereof I the said Beaumont Joseph Dixie have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand the 21st day of May in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and forty six.
